Pursuant to First Municipal District General Order 2019-01, the Cook County winter moratorium on evictions this year will be from December 18, 2019, through January 1, 2020. During this time, the Cook County Sheriff will not execute any eviction orders relating to residential real estate. The sheriff will resume execution of eviction orders on January 2, 2020. This order does not apply to commercial real estate.
Additionally, pursuant to the General Order, the sheriff will not execute any eviction orders related to residential real estate (1) “whenever the outside temperature is 15 degrees Fahrenheit or colder on the actual date of eviction” or (2) “whenever regardless of outside temperature, extreme weather conditions endanger the health and welfare of those to be evicted.”
