Eviction Complaint Filing Costs have Increased Statewide

Effective July 1, 2019, the cost to file an eviction complaint significantly increased statewide.  County clerks have drastically increased the cost to file complaints, in some cases raising the cost by 30%.  In Cook County, for example, the Clerk raised the cost to file an eviction complaint from $268.25 to $379.25–an increase of $111.00.  Below are the complaint filing costs for certain Illinois counties. The three costs are identified as follows: Joint Action (Possession and Rent) / Possession Only / Joint Action Over $15,000.

Cook County: $379.25 / $287.25 / $388.25

DuPage County: $293.25 / $118.25 / $343.25

Will County: $314.25 / $139.25 / $364.25

Kane County: $317.25 / $140.25 / $367.25

Lake County: $284.25 / $109.25 / $334.25

McHenry County: $225.25 / $89.25 / $290.25

Grundy County: $262.25 / $95.25 / $312.25

Kendall County: $266.25 / $89.25 / $316.25
